Cardiologist Omar Husseini, MD, (center) demonstrates a review of three-dimensional images from one of two Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE) available in the expanded Cardiac Care Center at Community Hospital.

Community Hospital unveiled its newly designed space dedicated to cardiovascular patients receiving inpatient and outpatient diagnostics, advanced treatments and disease management services. The newly expanded Cardiac Care Center features advances in technologies and techniques for treatment of a variety of cardiac conditions such as those performed in the Electrophysiology Lab (EP Lab) and Cardiac Catheterization Lab (Cath Lab).

“With the continued growth of our advanced cardiovascular services, expanding the area dedicated to outpatient diagnostics and treatment was a natural progression,” said Lou Molina, CEO of Community Hospital. “The growth of minimally-invasive procedures and outpatient treatment options for patients with heart disease or related conditions is redefining our care-delivery models. It was essential that we create a space and amenities dedicated to the comfort and best care of heart and vascular patients receiving these types of services.”

Located in the Medical Office Building adjacent to the hospital, the 25,000 square foot renovation and expansion project includes:

  • • A comfortable modern centralized unit for the management of patients undergoing cardiac diagnostic services and advanced treatments and procedures
  • • Expanded EP clinic for support of pacemakers (including leadless pacemakers) and cardiac ablations (including cryoablation)
  • • Latest technology for Cath Labs including a dedicated clinic for peripheral vascular procedures
  • • Non-invasive cardiology including transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE)

  • • Dedicated suites for cardiac diagnostic services including routine echocardiograms, stress tests, nuclear stress tests and vascular studies:
  • • Four nuclear cameras
  • • Eight echocardiogram/vascular ultrasound rooms
  • • Holter monitor applications

“We are performing some of the most advanced treatments available for heart patients today including a variety of minimally invasive options that were largely unavailable five or ten years ago,” says Samer Abbas, MD, FACC, FSCAI, medical director of Cardiovascular Services at Community Hospital. “As more cardiovascular treatment options become available on an outpatient basis, providing a well-equipped space with a sophisticated array of support services is vital to ensuring our patients achieve their best outcomes.”

“Our patients and families can continue to expect the highest level of care, today and well into the future, with the opening of this new center,” added Dale O’Donnell, vice president of Cardiovascular Services for Community Healthcare System. “Our entire Cardiology Services team worked together to create a space that would prioritize patient comfort and safety while anticipating the needs of future growth and technologies.”
