Fall Campfire, Hayrides

Enjoy an autumn evening at Rogers Lakewood Park, 5502 N. Meridian Rd., in Valparaiso as you ride along on a tractor-drawn hay wagon. Then gather around a glowing campfire. Bring your marshmallows. This is a great outing for youth groups, scouts, service clubs, birthday parties and parent organizations. Restrooms are available for your use. Musical at Opera House

Memorial Opera House at 104 Indiana Ave. in Valparaiso is presenting 9 to 5 The Musical, starting today and running Sept. 18, 19, 24, 25, 26 and Oct. 1-3. Party in the Park

The 2021 Party in the Park fundraiser is scheduled at Central Park Plaza, 68 Lafayette St., Valparaiso. Help Valpo Parks, Valpo Parks Foundation and the City of Valparaiso Celebrate the Past & Ignite the Future Fundraiser! Cost $50 per person. Heartache Tonight: A Tribute to The Eagles Concert!

Enjoy a family-friendly evening at Gabis Arboretum while listening to a performance of the music of the Eagles.     Hooked on Art Festival 

     Watch live street artists utilize a variety of mediums to express their creativity; completing a work of art from start to finish over the course of a day. Taking place at Thomas Centennial Park, 109 Broadway, Chesterton. Rain or shine, 8:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. Delicious food, unique shopping, live music, and art activities for all ages are just a few of the highlights that will welcome you at the event! Fall Fire Flannel Fest

Lowell Volunteer Fire Department presents its Fall Fire Flannel Fest, a car, truck, and bike show, at Freedom Park, 17105 Cline Ave., Lowell. Houseplant & Replanting Workshop

Chesterton Feed & Garden experts will turn your thumb green as they cover houseplant topics of Potting and repotting (when is the best time, what type of soils and fertilizers to use), propagation (stem cuttings, soft and hardwood cuttings, root divisions, leaf cuttings, and air layering), pruning (air circulation, bushier growth – aka pinching), pests and more. Portage’s Best – For the Foodies and the Boozies

Portage will host its 8th Annual Portage Brewfest (now Portage’s Best) for adults 21+ at the Open Air Pavillion, 6010 U.S. Hwy. 12 in Portage.  Food vendors will offer up specialty dish samples to compete for the Best Foodie award! COMHS Child Car Seat Safety Checks

Community Healthcare System is offering free car seat safety checks for National Seat Check Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Community Veterans Memorial, 9710 Calumet Ave., Munster. A certified child passenger safety technician will assist in installing car seats, inspect current seat installation and ensure children are in the appropriate seat for their age, height and weight. Children must be present for a proper fitting. Nearly half—48 percent—of all car seats are installed incorrectly, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
